Browsealoud
What is Browsealoud?
Browsealoud is a text to speech tool that reads content on the NationalTechCenter.org web site including PDFs using a high quality voice. Features include:

Download Browsealoud 5
- Go to the Browsealoud website to download Browsealoud 5.
- On the Downloads page, select your firewall status and preferred language. Then click on PC Download (View the instructions for MAC users).
- On the next page, reconfirm your firewall status and click on PC Download.
- When the File Download panel appears as below click on SAVE. Save Browsealoud 5 to the location you wish on your PC. Tip: The software will run from this location, so be sure to save it somewhere you will remember.

- After Browsealoud has downloaded, close the Download Complete window. Go to the location where you saved Brousealoud, and double click to open. (The following message may appear. Uncheck “Always ask before opening this file” to prevent this message from appearing in the future. Then click Run.)

- The first screen you will be presented with is the License Agreement. Select “I accept the license agreement” and click Next.
- After reading the Read Me screen with general instructions and accessibility information, click Next.
- You will then be presented with the final dialogue screen explaining the Browsealoud Icons as shown below. Read the information, then click Finish. Browsealoud is now running on your computer and is ready to read NationalTechCenter.org.
- Click Finish. Browsealoud is now running on your computer and ready to read NationalTechCenter.org.

Using Browsealoud on NationalTechCenter.org
To begin using Browsealoud, hover over the text to have it read. To read PDFs, double-click on the document icon in the System Tray, then hover over the text in the PDF.
Save as MP3
The content on the web page can be saved as a sound file (MP3). To save the content as a sound file,
- Double-click on the Browsealoud icon in the system tray to open the options panel.
- On the Speech tab, find the “What I want Browsealoud to read” box. Check “Select Text, MP3, or Dictionary.”
- Click OK.
- Highlight the text that you want read, then select Save As MP3 from the pop-up menu.
