Partnership Expands Digital Textbook Library for Students with Disabilities

Textbook publisher Flat World Knowledge and Bookshare, the largest online library for individuals with print disabilities, have teamed up to make more content available to students who cannot turn a page or who cannot see standard print books. Bookshare, a nonprofit launched in 2002, has steadily expanded its catalog thanks to a $32.5 million federal grant and an increasing number of partnerships with publishers and universities. The digital versions of the books allow for computer-generated speech and other features that make the books accessible to those with blindness, low-vision or learning disabilities.
