Technology is transforming how students learn and engage in our information society. Over 300 registrants learned about forward-thinking technology solutions from four leading educational entrepreneurs who have unleashed student talent through the use of online, interactive platforms. Steve Hargadon, Founder of Classroom 2.0 and an architect of LearnCentral.org; Paul Kim, Chief Technology Officer for Stanford University School of Education and a leading researcher for Programmable Open Mobile Internet; Jennifer Corriero, Executive Director of TakingITGlobal; and Emily Briggs, Program Manager of Sprout e-course, discussed successful strategies for developing the entrepreneurial spirit of global youth in advancing social media and innovation. The Webinar took place on May 20th from 3:00 pm – 4:15 pm ET.

A Bit More About the Presenters:

hargadon-steveSteve Hargadon is the founder of Classroom 2.0, the Social Learning Consultant at Elluminate, and an architect of a new collaborative project for Elluminate:  LearnCentral.org. LearnCentral is a social network for education that allows users to connect with colleagues, share content, join discussion groups, attend events, and collaborate with others in virtual meeting rooms.  Read more about LearnCentral

paul-kim1Paul Kim is the Chief Technology Officer for Stanford University School of Education. He leads various academic technology initiatives and teaches graduate courses related to digital innovations in education. He is currently a leading researcher for Programmable Open Mobile Internet (POMI), an National Science Foundation project, to develop a mobile computing model for K-20 students to engage in creative and inspiring discoveries in various learning environments. He is working to take this project global, developing mobile empowerment solutions for extremely underserved communities.

jennifer-corriero1Jennifer Corriero has a BA (Liberal Studies) and a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University. Jennifer is co-founder and Executive Director of TakingITGlobal, a non-profit organization with the aim of engaging youth in global issues through the use of technology.  In 2005, Jennifer was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and in 2007, as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network and as a York University Bryden Alumni Award winner. emilyEmily Briggs is the Program Manager of Sprout, an e-course designed to influence young leaders, aspiring social innovators and environmental entrepreneurs who want to grow their project ideas and learn to create lasting changes that take root in their communities. Sprout partners with TakingITGlobal for Educators (TIGed) who provides rich, interactive learning experiences designed to improve students’ global citizenship, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
