Legislation Would Mandate Captioning of Online Videos

Washington Post: Legislation introduced in the House would mandate captioning and descriptions of Internet video (with the exception of homemade clips on video-sharing sites such as YouTube) as well captioning on smaller devices such as MP3 players and cellphones.
While many advocates of people with disabilties have voiced their support for such measures, which they say have been long needed, groups in the technology industry have expressed concern that the new requirements will hamper innovations that promote accessibility in other ways and raise prices of the affected products.
