Tags:, ,

Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL), one of the original co-sponsors of the Americans with Disabilities Act,  delivered a powerful, thought-provoking, and entertaining speech about the employment of people with disabilities at the Fourth Annual Tony Coelho Lecture in Disability Employment Law & Policy. Senator Durbin’s speech included a call for the federal government to do more, and a discussion of the importance of the ADA Restoration Act.

Key points include:

  • the incease of wounded veterans
  • the stagnant employment rates for adults with disabilities
  • case law that has eroded the vision of the ADA

Watch the webcast or read the text of the the speech at the Coelho Lecture’s web site.
