ISTE released a major report at the Digital Equity Summit:  Engaging and Empowering the 21st Century Learner. The summit was held in conjunction with the National Education Computing Conference in Atlanta, running June 24-27, 2007. The report examines solutions and strategies to address persistent gaps in access and creative use of educational computing. To read the full report, click here.

After reading the ISTE Digital Equity overview literature, I completely agree with its findings; however, I’d like to have read a little more about Universal Design for Learning and use of assistive technology with the disabled population. The new NIMAS format for digital text (CAST.org) merits some mention as it effects a significant population and lends itself to digital equity for those students with reading problems.
