I agree that teachers should be the groundbreakers with assistive technology in the classroom, but I also feel that this cannot happen without significant support, training and funding. Unfortunately, this is the case in many schools. It then becomes the responsibility of teachers to research on their own and then brainstorm ways of acquiring the tools for their classrooms. With support and funding, I feel that most teachers would be on board with learning to navigate technology to enhance learning for their students. Teachers want to maximize the learning environment, they simply need the tools to accomplish this.
