Sean Smith

Associate Professor, Department of Special Education, University of Kansas

Dr. Smith is an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Kansas. He earned his Ph.D. in special education from the University of Virginia. He has classroom teaching experience in both general and special education settings focused on students with learning disabilities and behavior disorders at the middle school and secondary levels. Dr. Smith’s teaching and research interests focus on the use of technology to enhance application, teaching, and learning. He has authored more than 30 articles and book chapters on assistive and instructional technology. Dr. Smith’s most recent chapters include: “Technology and in-service professional development: Integrating an effective medium to bridge research to practice” and “Technology use and students with intellectual disability: Universal design for all students” in the Handbook of Special Education: Technology Research and Practice (2005).
