Professional Development Toolkit

Since the launch of the Tech Matrix in Winter 2005, many of our stakeholders have expressed interest in disseminating the Math and Reading Matrices to colleagues. The Professional Development Toolkit offers a springboard to share materials on the Tech Matrix, reference support for the technology purposes around which the matrices are organized, and review technology solutions for students with disabilities. Education Week's Annual Report Released

Technology Counts 2006—the ninth edition of Education Week’s annual report on educational technology—examines how technology and education policies are evolving to support the use of data to improve student achievement. The report focuses on how well states and school districts are harnessing vast amounts of new student information to improve learning. According to a survey of state education officials conducted for the report, despite the federal government's push to make data central to instructional decisions, states are still far away from realizing that goal. Future Funding Opportunities

U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services is planning to announce competition for several research grants related to assistive technology. Watch for the RFPs to be released within the next ten days for: Assistive Technology Outcomes Research Project, Model Systems and Knowledge Translation Center, and Mobility Aids and Wayfinding Technologies for Individuals with Blindness and Low Vision.
